Warner Bros. Studio Tour Tokyo Opening Day Includes Three Special Guests

by Elyse Maupin-Thomas · June 16, 2023

Friday, June 16, 2023, has made its mark on Wizarding World history with the official opening of Warner Bros. Studio Tour Tokyo – The Making of Harry Potter. In the works since May 2021, the much-anticipated attraction spans an impressive 30,000 square meters and is positively packed with fantastic features and magical moments. Ticket sales began on March 22, and it appears that three particularly significant guests managed to snag a few for themselves.

Tom Felton made his way to Tokyo’s Nerima Ward for the ceremony and apparently arrived in time to give the attraction a once-over the day prior to its opening. According to the videos released by Warner Bros. Studio Tour Tokyo’s Twitter page, all three stars gave the facility their full approval.

Tom Felton’s video, released June 15, invites fans on his version of the tour, which involves revisiting some of his favorite “Malfoy Moments.” He naturally starts in the Slytherin common room before wandering into the Room of Requirement to conduct a status check of the Vanishing Cabinet. “I’m sorry, it’s a bit emotional,” Felton comments, turning away from his former character’s most infamous extracurricular project.

Matthew Lewis is all wonder in his video, which depicts his wanderings from the lavishly decorated Gryffindor common room to the extensive shelves of the Hogwarts library.

Evanna Lynch gives fans an extensive peek at five sets featured within the attraction. She visits the Ministry of Magic, the Forbidden Forest, Diagon Alley, Hagrid’s hut, and Platform 9 3/4, adding some informative commentary along the way. The shots in this video capture the magnitude of each set, as well as the level of detail and care taken in their creation.

The three reconvened the next day to welcome fans in person. Visitors were then invited to enjoy the authentic sets and other spoils of the attraction, including the largest Harry Potter store in the world, British-inspired foods and magical treats, and immersive experiences like stepping into the crowd of a Quidditch match.

Tickets are available for purchase now on the official website. Fans 18 years and older can buy adult tickets for ¥6,300 ($44). Those between the ages of 12 and 17 can purchase junior tickets for ¥5,200 ($37), and child tickets are available for those between 4 and 11 for ¥3,800 ($27). Fans under 4 may enter for free.
