Six Other “Harry Potter” Actors Who Could Return to the Universe
With Tom Felton returning to the stage as Draco Malfoy, it’s a good time to think about what other Harry Potter movie alumni could return to the universe. With both multiple adaptations of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child running and the upcoming Harry Potter TV show, there are numerous Harry Potter projects currently running or in the works. Here are six actors who could make a comeback as a new character.
Daniel Radcliffe as Remus Lupin
It would be great to see Daniel Radcliffe return to the wizarding world as another character. When we were introduced to an adult Remus Lupin, he was in his mid-30s, the same age Daniel is now. Daniel returning as a calm, compassionate, and battle-weary Remus Lupin would be a brilliant casting twist. Returning as a complex fan favourite character could be a meaningful way to return.
Bonnie Wright as Molly Weasley
Bonnie Wright could step into the role of the fierce, loving, and no-nonsense Molly Weasley. With her maturity and warmth, she could embody everything that made Molly such a cornerstone of the original series. Seeing Wright as a mother figure to a new generation of witches and wizards would be both touching and empowering.
Tom Felton as Gilderoy Lockhart
While Felton is currently reprising Draco Malfoy on stage, it would be great to see him portraying the vain, clueless, and cowardly Gilderoy Lockhart in a future adaptation of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Felton’s sharp comedic timing and flair for charm make him a perfect fit for the role, striking a balance that is equal parts ridiculous and entertaining.
David Tennant as Alastor “Mad-Eye” Moody
David Tennant’s original role as Barty Crouch Jr. already gave us a taste of what a deranged Moody looked like, but it would be great to give him a bit more screen time and see what he could do as the real character. With a previous filmography playing the heroic Doctor in Doctor Who, the witty Cowley in Good Omens, and the villainous Kilgrave in Jessica Jones, David has the acting chops to portray both the noble Moody and the duplicitous Barty Crouch Jr.
Gary Oldman as Albus Dumbledore
Although he brought Sirius Black to life in the original films, Oldman has the wisdom, eccentricity, and emotional depth necessary to become Albus Dumbledore in a new interpretation. While John Lithgow has been cast in the role for the upcoming Max series, Oldman would be a compelling alternative for other timelines or adaptations. He knows how to carry the weight of complex legacies.
Helena Bonham Carter as Minerva McGonagall
Helena Bonham Carter’s larger-than-life portrayal of Bellatrix Lestrange was unforgettable, but she could return to the wizarding world as the equally formidable, but kind and funny, Minerva McGonagall. With her commanding screen presence, Helena could bring the fierceness to McGonagall while honouring the character’s core of integrity and loyalty.
