School turned into Hogwarts to celebrate World Book Week

by Toni Louise Cooper · March 7, 2014

In honor of World Book Week, pupils at Charlton-On-Otmoor Primary School were pleasantly surprised when instead of having a normal week, the whole school was suddenly transformed into Hogwarts. Teachers dressed up, pupils were sorted into houses, and there was even a visit from Oxford University’s Quidditch team.

The Oxford Times reported that the week started as it normally would, with an assembly. Of course, that’s when things turned quite different.

“It was just a normal assembly for the children,” said dance teacher Sissi Tellechea, “and then they started noticing smoke coming out of the cupboard and got really excited.”

Mike Wisbach, headteacher of the school, explained that he “went into the cupboard as if [he were] working out the cause, and then Sissi jumped out as a witch.”

“She told the children that the Board of Wizarding Education said the school’s magic was so poor they would shut it down, but they had one week to prove themselves.”

From then on, the rest of the week was spent with fun, games, and… well, magic. A hat with a walkie talkie was used for the Sorting, and they then spent their time learning all sorts of magical lessons and baking bizarre treats.

Lucky children! How many of you wish this had happened at your school?
