Berlin International Film Festival headed to a great start today when Ralph Fiennes’s (Voldemort) newest film, The Grand Budapest Hotel, opened the event. The film is set around the life of a hotel concierge, Gustave H. Played by Fiennes, who finds himself in trouble with the police after a series of events involving a son, a one night stand and a painting. Director Wes Anderson commented on the best way to not get an actor to accept a role in a film while Fiennes spoke of a certain refreshing aspect he found while working with Anderson.
Empire Magazine reported that during an interview with Sky Movies, Gary Oldman (Sirius Black) confirmed that he has been contacted about a possible role in the anticipated new addition, Episode VII. WIthout revealing too much, Oldman opened up a bit about his current situation. Would you like to see Gary Oldman in the new Star Wars episode?
What’s it like to reread the series years later and feel different?
The Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban director, Alfonso Cuarón will be taking part in two events next week, one day after the other. The first will feature 90-minute conversations with distinguished filmmakers at a school with strong links to the film and television industry. The second event however will involve a screening of ten-time Oscar-nominated film Gravity, followed by a discussion with Cuaron and then a screening of one of his other celebrated works. Will you be able to make it to either of these events?
National Doodle Day involves a charity auction that comprises doodles drawn by celebrities in order to raise funds and awareness for Epilepsy Action. The event raises money to help support the 600,000 people across the UK with epilepsy. This year, there are several celebrities who appeared in the Harry Potter film series who have drawn for the auction.
The first image from Jason Isaacs’s (Lucius Malfoy) latest film, Things People Do has been released. In the film, Isaacs plays Frank McTiernan, a detective who befriends a man recently turned to a life of crime after losing his job. Does this new picture make you any more excited to see this movie?
