by Brandon Dear J.K. Rowling, Let me first start by saying that I have been a fan of your novels since 2002 (I was a late bloomer!). My love affair with Harry Potter began when I...
by Brandon Here we are. Three of five. Go! To me one of the most mysterious characters in the Harry Potter lexicon is the dark lord Grindelwald. Here’s a brief backstory based on what we know:...

We know that Peter Pettigrew hung out with Remus Lupin, Sirius Black, and James Potter at Hogwarts. He is one of the authors of the Marauders Map, and from “Snape’s Worst Memory” in Book Five and McGonagall in Book Three, we know he idolized James. Are we positive Peter was in Gryffindor?

What is “Dark Magic?” What is a “Dark Wizard?” A careful reading of the first five “Harry Potter” books shows that J.K. Rowling uses the word “Dark” to mean two rather different things; I believe that the difference will play an important role in “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” and Book 7.

The Imperius Curse, we are told, is one of the three unforgivable curses in the wizarding world and is used to control people. It’s used as a very important plot device in GoF and has received quite a bit of criticism for being used inconsistently. Now, I love and adore JKR (naturally, since I spend the time I do reading, praising and writing about her books) but she is only human. Furthermore, the Harry Potter series is her first published story, and even though it’s split into seven books, it’s still just one story. Everyone who’s ever tried to write fiction knows how hard it is to keep track of absolutely everything, so that some things in the series might not really add up; it isn’t weird at all.
