Storm Barney Threatens “Fantastic Beasts” Set

Residents of the UK are already aware of the destructive power of Storm Barney, which brought strong winds to the region and left thousands of homes without power on Tuesday night, and it seems that the Leavesden set of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them may also have been affected by the bad weather.

According to an article in the Mirror, cast and crew had to be evacuated on Tuesday due to the force of the storm.

The set of the new Harry Potter prequel Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them has been severely damaged by storm Barney. Last night, the storm – which is only the second UK storm strong enough to be named – led to 400 plus members of the crew and cast being evacuated from the site in Leavesden, Hertfordshire. Images reveal [that] the massive green screen was torn apart, leaving the multi-million pound setter in chaos. It is believed that filming has been able to continue today.

You can see some of the destruction in the image below:

Of course, the most important thing is that everyone on set it safe and sound – but it will be interesting to see if the damage ends up delaying filming. Let’s hope not!
