LEGO Dimensions: Fantastic Beasts

Main  Cases from the Wizarding World

LEGO Dimensions is LEGO’s new way of combining many fandoms in one epic, action-adventure video game. To play the game – and any expansion packs – you need the LEGO Dimensions Starter Pack, which is available for the gaming platforms PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Wii U, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. Featuring over 30 franchises, including Harry Potter packs, the LEGO Dimensions game follows the toy-to-life format by combining physical toys with a digital gameplay world.

Aside from the Starter Pack, LEGO Dimensions offers Story Packs, Level Packs, Fun Packs, and Team Packs. These all vary in their content.

Story Packs: Offer you a new story, including six new levels of game play and new characters

Level Packs: Offer you one new level, plus a new character and a vehicle and an object

Fun Packs: Offer you one new character, plus a vehicle or object

Team Packs: Offer you two new characters, plus a vehicle or object for each

All characters in LEGO Dimensions bring a different set of skills. Some skills are unique to just one character. The more characters you have for the game, the more you can achieve inside the game play, which also means accessing new areas of the game.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them Story Pack

"Add more gameplay to your LEGO Dimensions experience, with the 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them' Story Pack, featuring Newt Scamander. Simply attach the Newt minifigure to his LEGO Toy Tag and place him on the LEGO Toy Pad to bring him to life in the game. Then use his special abilities to solve puzzles and battle enemies. Add the 3-in-1 Niffler to boost your gameplay, [and] rebuild it into the Sinister Scorpion and Vicious Vulture for upgraded abilities in the game. This set includes a buildable Newt Scamander minifigure with his wand, a 3-in-1 rebuildable vehicle, [the] MACUSA gateway build, six new game levels, and an Adventure World with a Battle Arena."

The Fantastic Beasts Story Pack allows you to experience the movie as Newt Scamander with exciting new levels all taking place in New York City. It offers you six action-packed levels and allows you to build the new LEGO Dimensions location MACUSA. The storyline mainly follows the plot of the movie with slight changes every now and then. The levels and riddles are quite tough and therefore offer a longer gaming time compared to earlier LEGO Dimensions Story Packs. The Story Pack was released on November 18, 2016.

Trivia

  • The movie came out the same day that the LEGO Dimensions Fantastic Beasts Story Pack was released.
  • Whenever Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts playable wizards or witches cast spells, they will say the spell's incantation. Since the characters in previous Harry Potter LEGO games didn't speak at all, this is a nice change.
  • Both the Arid and the Arctic Animal Habitats share the same arena design, but with different environment settings: The Arid Animal Habitats is a desert area, while the Arctic Animal Habitats (comes with the Tina Fun Pack) is a snow area.
  • Battle Arena: The Arid Animal Habitats features exploding vials of Erumpent horn fluid and the Swooping Evil to keep the battles more interesting.
  • This set has the most pieces, at 261, not counting the Starter Pack. Therefore, it has the most pieces out of any Story Pack.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them Fun Pack (Tina)

The Fantastic Beasts Fun Pack allows you to explore more of the LEGO Dimensions multiverse with Tina Goldstein, Queenie Goldstein, and the Swooping Evil, which is especially useful if you need a rescue. Queenie Goldstein also brings a new skill with Mind Control (kown as the Imperius Curse within the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts LEGO Dimensions Packs). This ability is described as the power to control minds and therefore, is a strange mix of Legilimency and the Imperius Curse (in the books). In the film series, Queenie is a natural Legilimens, and it seems the game has changed that into the skill of using the Imperius Curse. The Fun Pack was released on November 18, 2016.
