Maggie Smith discusses battle with cancer

The Times Online recently interviewed Dame Maggie Smith, where she discussed her career, her role in the Potter films as Professor McGonagall, as well as her battle with breast cancer. Smith, who was diagnosed last year, tells the story of how she filmed her scenes for Half-Blood Prince mid-treatment.

The actress is very candid in the interview, saying that she even accepted the possibility of dying. Thankfully, the doctors have given her an “all-clear,” as she goes for a check-up later this month.

Smith is set to begin filming Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows shortly, but notes, “she is racked with doubt about her acting future after being 'knocked sideways' by her illness.”

All of us here at MuggleNet wish Maggie a full and speedy recovery!
