Fan Art of the Week: ‘Chamber of Secrets’

by Keith Hawk · Published March 29, 2011 · Updated March 22, 2018

This week’s submission is from MuggleNet fan Olivea and is titled ‘Chamber of Secrets.’ From the artist, “I am a huge Bellatrix fan. However, I drew this picture of the ‘Chamber of Secrets’ book cover on a quiet day during a recent weekend at home in Northern Wisconsin. I am 13 years old (as of last week).”

Noah’s Notes: Like Olivea, many fans (from the United States at least) have sent in artwork that captures the cover work of Mary GrandPre. This was done in simple crayon, but undoubtedly the process of reconstructing the book cover was long and careful work. I’m especially impressed with Olivea’s drawing of Fawkes; she shades within each section of wing to present the differing textures, as well the places where the feathers are flecked by light. Great job Olivea and Happy Birthday!

Special Announcement: MuggleNet will be publishing a book filled with fan art like the one featured here. All proceeds from this book will be donated to the Harry Potter Alliance. Are you an artist that would like to be involved and possibly have your Harry Potter fan art published? Send an email directly to keith@staff.mugglenet.com for more information. Deadlines for submissions are April 17. You can also hear about this announcement during MuggleCast 223.

Submit your own work and view our archives by heading on over to our Fan Art Section. See you again next Tuesday!
