Fan Art of the Week: “The Pause”

by Keith Hawk · Published September 13, 2011 · Updated March 22, 2018

This week’s highlighted Fan Art Section submission is titled ‘The Pause’ and comes to us from Dylan. The art piece depicts a certain notable scene from Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.

Noah’s Notes: Here we find Harry and Buckbeak at their first meeting on the edge of the Forbidden Forest. Of note, the sketchy background of the forest is very intricate and seems to be composed of many layers thanks to a watercolor effect that provides a certain depth – the depth you would expect of a vast forest. If you look to the dirt floor, Dylan works extensively with shadows, varying darker and lighter ones in a very accurate fashion. Additionally, Dylan’s rendering of Buckbeak is really fantastic. You can view the full size image of this piece right here.

To submit your own art work and to view our archives of hundreds of previously submitted pieces: head on over to our Fan Art Section. Perhaps your art submission will be featured here on the front page just like Dylan’s. See you next week!
