Fan Art of the Week: “The Cave in the Cliff”

by Keith Hawk · Published December 7, 2011 · Updated March 22, 2018

Our next featured fan art submission of the week is an awesome painting and it comes from Lucy. From the artist: “I’ve attached a photo of a painting I did depicting the moment when Harry and Dumbledore first apparate near the cave in ‘Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.’ I used acrylic paints (and glitter), whilst trying as hard as possible to not be influenced by the film and to paint only what I imagined after reading J.K. Rowling’s description.”

You can see the full size image of this piece right here.

Noah’s Notes: The use of color in this painting is incredible. The purples and dark blues capture the setting of the scene quite nicely and they also build the dark mood. The layout of the crags in the background was very well done, and it’s such that we can see complex details/colors in the rock. The waves are beautiful too and the glitter is also a nice touch. Great work Lucy!

You can learn how to submit your own and view all of our archives by heading on over to our Fan Art Section. Submit your piece of art and perhaps we will highlight here on the MuggleNet home page. See you next week!
