Lord Voldemort to face a formidable opponent at the Olympics – Mary Poppins? [Rumor]

The highly anticipated 2012 London Olympics kick off this Friday with the traditional opening ceremony. However, if recent rumors are true, this ceremony will be anything but traditional, instead featuring the evil man himself – Lord Voldemort – facing off against a rather unlikely foe… Mary Poppins!

Yahoo reports that there are whispers about the opening ceremony including a sequence featuring famous British literary characters. Reports say the climax will see a 40-foot Lord Voldemort rising up to scare away Captain Hook, Cruella De Vil, and Alice of Alice in Wonderland.

Though we might expect Harry Potter to apparate in and defeat the Dark Lord, the rumors continue that he will instead be done in by famed nanny Mary Poppins, armed with her umbrella and a song. Poppins will reportedly descend from the stadium roof, float down to the ground, and banish the evil scene to restore happiness.

Again, we stress that is a rumor, so it is not yet confirmed. But if true, the scene would bring another aspect of the Harry Potter series to the London Olympics, albeit the more evil side! Don’t forget that we recently reported that Rupert Grint will be taking part in the Olympic Torch relay on Wednesday.
