Curious Claw

Dear Professor McGonagall,

Does house preference really matter so much that you could have been a Ravenclaw, but chose Gryffindor?

Sincerely,
Curious Ravenclaw

Dear Curious Ravenclaw,

Oh, my, that name stirs such memories! Yes and no, dear. If you are truly a Ravenclaw, the fact that you have a whim to be Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, or Slytherin will not sway the Sorting Hat one kneazle hair. The Sorting Hat places you where you will best belong. In the unusual circumstance where a new student truly possesses equal characteristics of two Houses, the Sorting Hat takes conscious preference into account.

Rest assured, you are where you belong. Do not, however, let that keep you from making friends in all the Houses.
