Phelps twins set to open Harry Potter: The Exhibition in Alberta, Canada

by Keith Hawk · October 31, 2013

British actors James and Oliver Phelps – who portray Fred and George Weasley in the Harry Potter films – are coming to Edmonton for Harry Potter: The Exhibition at TELUS World of Science – Edmonton, which opens on November 23, 2013.

The Phelps will be on hand to host a sneak peek on Friday, November 22, as well as officially open the exhibition to the public at 12:01 a.m. on Saturday morning, November 23.

Those who purchase, or have purchased, an exhibition ticket before 11:59 p.m. MST on November 10, 2013, automatically receive an entry form for a chance to win one of 100 pairs of tickets to attend the sneak peek event hosted by James and Oliver Phelps. Visit the Sneak Peek Tour web page for complete contest rules.

The exhibition offers visitors a first-hand look inside the famous wizard’s magical world and features hundreds of authentic film artifacts displayed in immersive settings inspired by the film sets, including the Great Hall, Hagrid’s hut, and the Gryffindor common room. Visitors can also try their hand at several interactive elements such as pulling a mandrake in the Herbology classroom vignette, tossing a Quaffle in the Quidditch area, or sitting in Hagrid’s giant-sized armchair.

James and Oliver Phelps appeared in all eight Harry Potter films and have attended the exhibition at various locations throughout its global five-year tour. Edmonton is the tenth stop for the exhibition, which debuted in Chicago in 2009 and has since been touring the world with recent stops in Tokyo, New York City, and Singapore. The exhibition has expanded in recent years to include artifacts from all eight Harry Potter films.

Harry Potter: The Exhibition opens at 12:01 a.m. Saturday, November 23, 2013, and will run through Sunday, March 9, 2014, at TELUS World of Science – Edmonton. The exhibition is a timed entry experience and will be open daily. Tickets are now available online at telusworldofscienceedmonton.ca, by calling 780-451-3344, or by visiting the science center’s box office.

Admission to Harry Potter: The Exhibition, which includes general admission to the science center’s exhibition halls, is $26.50 for adults, $23.50 for seniors and youth (ages 65+ and 13-17), and $19.50 for children (ages 3-12). For TELUS World of Science – Edmonton members, admission is $20 for adults, $18 for seniors and youth, and $14 for children.
