Just Around the Sorting Hat

to the tune of “Just Around the Riverbend” by Judy Kuhn

What I love most about Hogwarts is:
You can’t go to the Sorting Hat twice
You only get one chance, then you’re going
And students, I guess, can live like that
But we all must pay a price
To be safe, we lose our chance of ever knowing
What’s around the Sorting Hat
Waiting just around the sorting

I look once more
Just around the Sorting Hat
To Gryffindor
Where they love chivalry
Don’t know what for
Which house I should choose to be in
Just around the Sorting Hat
For me
Coming for me

I feel it there beyond this stool
Or right behind McGonagall
Can I ignore that sound of Lions roaring
For a safe ambitious future
With a few death eater brats
To never dream of courage and chivalry?
Just around the Sorting Hat
Just around the Sorting Hat

I look once more
Just around the Sorting Hat
To Gryffindor
It’s not Slytherin I see
Don’t know what for
Why must all my dreams extend
Just around the Sorting Hat?
Just around the Sorting Hat

Should I choose the smoothest course,
Steady as the phoenix flame?
Should I choose Slytherin?
Is all my courage at an end?
Or do you still wait for me, chivalry
Just around the Sorting Hat?
