Dumbledore makes appearance in “The Lego Movie”

Watch closely, and you’ll see the Hogwarts headmaster making a cameo appearance in Warner Bros.’ new film, The Lego Movie!

The film includes a variety of licensed characters, including Batman, Gandalf, Green Lantern, Han Solo, and Chewbacca. Writer and director Chris Miller told The Hollywood Reporter that there was a lot of “legal wrangling” involved in getting approval for the characters, and Dumbledore was one of the most difficult.

“We went to each rights holder and pitched our hearts out about how we would show a Lego version of their character so that it wouldn’t compete with their existing fan base but… actually build a new fan base,” said producer Dan Lin. They also had to re-approach the rights holders every time a script change altered the characters’ actions and words.

Lego Dumbledore can be seen in this clip, dancing on the right side of the screen in purple, both at the beginning and at 0:43. He also appears in this TV spot, running in the background behind Superman and Green Lantern.

I have been a fan of Harry since 2000, a fan of MuggleNet since 2005, and a MuggleNet team member since 2013. I believe in the power of stories to bring people together, and nothing does that quite like Harry Potter. I’m an annoyingly proud Canadian and live in Toronto.
