“The Cuckoo’s Calling” is a finalist for the LA Times Book Prize

Finalists for the 2013 LA Times Book Prizes have been announced, and The Cuckoo’s Calling by Robert Galbraith (J.K. Rowling) made the cut! There are 50 finalists across ten categories, and The Cuckoo’s Calling is one of the five nominees in the Mystery/Thriller category.

The novel is up against Sycamore Row by John Grisham, Hour of the Red God by Richard Crompton, The Rage by Gene Kerrigan, and The Collini Case by Ferdinand von Schirach. Rainbow Rowell’s Fangirl is a finalist in the Young Adult category.

Additionally, John Green, bestselling author and co-creator of the Project for Awesome, will receive the Innovators Award for “his dynamic use of online media to entertain and engage.”

The full list of finalists is here. Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on April 11. We wish Robert Galbraith good luck!

I have been a fan of Harry since 2000, a fan of MuggleNet since 2005, and a MuggleNet team member since 2013. I believe in the power of stories to bring people together, and nothing does that quite like Harry Potter. I’m an annoyingly proud Canadian and live in Toronto.
