Harry Potter: The Exhibition extends stay in Canada – WIN Phelps twins signed memorabilia

by Keith Hawk · March 4, 2014

Due to popular demand, TELUS World of Science – Edmonton has extended the run of Harry Potter: The Exhibition until April 6, 2014. Originally scheduled to close March 9, 2014, the blockbuster exhibition has already attracted an incredible number of fans from western Canada, and the extension will allow more visitors to experience the exhibition before it leaves North America to begin a European tour.

In celebration of the extension, from March 4 through April 6, Harry Potter: The Exhibition guests can enter for a chance to win one of the exhibition’s replica Quaffle™ balls or one of three souvenir posters, each signed by James and Oliver Phelps, who played Fred and George Weasley, the prankster twins, in the Harry Potter film series.

To be entered for a chance to win, visitors who purchase tickets at the box office or online for any Harry Potter: The Exhibition date between March 4 and April 6 will receive an entry form. Winners will be drawn on April 7 and announced at the venue. No purchase is necessary, and official contest rules are available on the TELUS World of Science – Edmonton website and at the box office.

Visitors to the exhibition will see the amazing craftsmanship behind hundreds of authentic costumes and film props from all eight of the Harry Potter films. Created by Global Experience Specialists (GES) in partnership with Warner Bros. Consumer Products, the exhibition has been experienced by more than three million visitors around the globe since its debut five years ago. The exhibition made its world premiere in Chicago in April 2009, with stops in Boston, Toronto, Seattle, New York, Sydney, Singapore, and Tokyo before opening in Edmonton on November 23, 2013.

Harry Potter: The Exhibition includes elaborate settings inspired by the film sets and locations that are filled with authentic film props, costumes, and creatures, including Harry Potter’s glasses, wand, and Nimbus 2000™. Guests can also step inside interactive displays, such as a re-creation of Hagrid’s hut, the Quidditch™ area, and the Herbology classroom.

The exhibition is open daily and will run through Sunday, April 6, 2014, at TELUS World of Science – Edmonton. Tickets are available online at telusworldofscienceedmonton.com , by calling 780-451-3344, or by visiting the science center’s box office.

Admission to Harry Potter: The Exhibition, which includes general admission to the science center’s exhibition halls, is $26.50 for adults, $23.50 for seniors and youth (ages 65+ and 13-17), and $19.50 for children (ages 3-12); for TELUS World of Science – Edmonton members, admission is $20 for adults, $18 for seniors and youth, and $14 for children.

Did You Know

When Arthur Weasley takes Harry Potter to the Ministry of Magic, they must first dial a secret code into a telephone keypad. He enters the number 62442. The letters underneath those numbers on a standard mobile phone spell out the word “magic.”

Potter Quote

“Well – it’s just that you seem to be laboring under the delusion that I am going to – what is the phrase? – come quietly. I am afraid I am not going to come quietly at all, Cornelius. I have absolutely no intention of being sent to Azkaban. I could break out, of course – but what a waste of time, and frankly, I can think of a whole host of things I would rather be doing.”
