Christmas in July

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter: Diagon Alley is officially open for business. Grab every Galleon, Sickle, and Knut from your vault at Gringotts (exchange that Muggle money if you’ve got it) and check out the nearest wizard shop!

Not only did the doors of the Hogwarts Express open today, but J.K Rowling gave us one the biggest chunks of information (in my opinion) since the announcement of Pottermore. If you’ve been keeping up with the Quidditch World Cup, you know that Japan and the USA will play each other for third place and Bulgaria and Brazil will play for the cup. Did you also know that members of Dumbledore’s Army are in the Patagonian Desert?

According to an article in the Daily Prophet, written by Rita Skeeter, former members of Dumbledore’s Army will be attending the final. Being her usual snarky self, Rita commented on their presence and threw in a few of her own assumptions (no surprise there). We learn that Ron has left his job at the Ministry to co-manage Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes with George, Hermione is Deputy Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, Luna has twins, and Harry has an interesting new scar. His godson, a Mr. Teddy Lupin, and Fleur and Bill’s daughter, Victoire, have also taken a liking to each other’s company, apparently snogging quite often.

While the information on Pottermore in the chapters has been great at quenching the thirst for new information, this article, “DUMBLEDORE’S ARMY REUNITES AT QUIDDITCH WORLD CUP FINAL”, is by far my absolute favorite. It once again gives credit to Rowling’s brilliance at being able to include so much information in an article so short and perfectly fitting. If the gang would reunite anywhere, it would be at the Quidditch World Cup.

With just over 6 months until Christmas, I think JKR treated us a little early this year. Today also marks the 15th anniversary of the Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban book release, as well as the 14th anniversary of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
