The Chamber of Secrets Has Been Opened

Only a few months out of his first encounter with the Dark Lord (aside from Voldemort’s attempt on Harry’s life in Godric’s Hollow), Harry enters his second year at Hogwarts.

It starts out a little shaky, what with a house-elf named Dobby showing up in his bedroom at Privet Drive and urging him not to go back to Hogwarts, the Weasleys having to break him out (literally) from the Dursleys, and Dobby sealing the barrier off to the Hogwarts Express. Harry and Ron even make it onto the front page of Muggle news when Arthur Weasley’s flying Ford Anglia is seen soaring over the streets of London. The boys crash land in the Whomping Willow and after narrowly escaping death by its branches, they are almost expelled.

As if the return to Hogwarts wasn’t trouble enough, now there’s other things Harry has to worry about. Aside from the annoying presence of one Gilderoy Lockhart, Filch’s cat, Mrs. Norris, turns up petrified. Harry also learns he can speak Parseltongue, making him a prime suspect in the continuing attacks on Muggle-borns, as Slytherin himself was a Parselmouth. There’s even some shocking secrets revealed about our favorite Hogwarts gamekeeper.

Danger lurks around every corner as Voldemort attempts, once again, to regain power. “THE CHAMBER OF SECRETS HAS BEEN OPENED. ENEMIES OF THE HEIR, BEWARE.”

Celebrating 16 years. Chocolate Frogs and Butterbeer for everyone!
