Tom Felton attends Wizard World Tulsa, befriends unsuspecting fan

Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy) took to the stage in a standing-room-only panel at Oklahoma pop culture convention Wizard World Tulsa. He talked about his current projects as well as answered questions about filming Harry Potter. At the beginning of the panel, he joked about speaking with an Oklahoman accent, saying, “All I’ve been told to say is ‘y’all.'” In regards to growing up on a movie set, he tells an embarassing story about meeting Gary Oldman (Sirius Black)… multiple times.

I thought Gary Oldman worked there as a cleaner,” he said, adding that they were introduced three times before someone told him, “You know who he is, right?”

That’s not all that Felton did at the convention. As part of a documentary for BBC Three, he spent time interviewing fans for his documentary about TV and film conventions and the fans who are attracted to these massive events. That was how he met Robert Taylor, a Harry Potter memorabilia guru. After buying a hot dog for Taylor, he dropped by the next day to make a secret visit to the fan’s home. Taylor said that Felton was incredibly down to Earth, bringing a gift for Taylor and remembering that his wife has health issues she’s been battling.

In the documentary, previously reported on by MuggleNet, titled Tom Felton: Meet the Fanatics, currently airing at an unknown date, it will show what Felton and Taylor talked about during his visit and why Robert Taylor says Felton is “up there” with the celebrity encounters he’s had in his life.
