Becoming Ron Weasley: Comeback Kid #MNBHP
How come you’re here?”
Apparently Ron had hoped that this point would come up later, if at all.
“Well, I’ve — you know — I’ve come back. If —” He cleared his throat. “You know. You still want me.” ~ DH
Today’s topic goes back to what we discussed last week, no one is perfect—especially ourselves. And, since we know we are not perfect, there will be times when, if we want to be like Ron, we’ve got to humble ourselves and admit we’ve messed up.
It could not have been easy, after the way Ron stormed out—the words he said to his two dearest friends—to return to them. Now his friends know of his jealousy and insecurity. They see him more clearly—flaws and all. In going back, he risks that they will not accept his apology. A fact we must all live with when we mess up. But Ron still returns to Harry and Hermione. Why?
The only way to keep our friends is to go back to them and apologize when we mess up—which we will do—and, if they are our true friends, they’ll forgive us as Harry and Hermione forgave Ron (more than once).
CHALLENGE
Apologize even when you don’t think you’ve done anything wrong. Sometimes we come off in ways we don’t intend and hurt people. If we hurt someone, even if that wasn’t our intention, it is important to take responsibility. Better to over apologize to many people than to hold on to righteous pride and be alone.
Be like Ron—comeback to your friends.
