Emma Watson’s “Regression” to open San Sebastian International Film Festival

Regression, a thriller in which Emma Watson plays Angela Grey, a young woman whose father may have committed an unspeakable crime he has no memory of, is set to open the San Sebastian International Film Festival, which runs September 18-26.

Set in Minnesota in 1990, the film stars Hawke as detective Bruce Kenner, investigating the case of young Angela (Watson), who accuses her father, John Gray (David Dencik), of an unspeakable crime.

But when Gray admits his guilt, without recollection, a renowned psychologist (David Thewlis) brought into the case discovers a horrifying mystery — and ‘Regression’ looks set to pack a crucial twist [that] takes it to a whole new level, an effect […] [Director Alejandro] Amen[á]bar has already pulled off with remarkable success in two of his greatest hits: international breakthrough ‘Open Your Eyes[‘], which sparked a U.S. remake, ‘Vanilla Sky[‘], and Nicole Kidman starrer ‘The Others[‘], exec produced by Amen[á]bar devotee Tom Cruise, which grossed more than $200 million worldwide.

Regression will premiere in the Kursaal Auditorium on September 18, the first film of the festival. This will be the world premiere of the movie, which will open in other territories worldwide beginning in October. You can view the latest posters for Regression here and watch the trailer here!
