Colin Farrell Nominated for Best Actor at the British Independent Film Awards

It’s good news for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them actor Colin Farrell (Graves), who’s been nominated for Best Actor at the British Independent Film Awards for his role in The Lobster. The film, which was released last month, is nominated in a total of seven categories at the awards, the highest number of nominations for one film. Other nominations include Best British Independent Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay, and Producer of the Year.

Several other films that involve Potter alumni and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them cast members are also nominated in the awards.

Helena Bonham Carter (Bellatrix Lestrange) is nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Suffragette, which has a total of four awards. Brendan Gleeson (Alastor Moody) has also been nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the film.

Brooklyn, which stars Domhnall Gleeson (Bill Weasley) and Julie Walters (Molly Weasley), is nominated for a total of five awards. Domhnall has been nominated in the Best Supporting Actor category, alongside his father Brendan. Julie Walters is nominated for Best Supporting Actress.

Alicia Vikander is nominated for Best Actress for The Danish Girl (starring Eddie Redmayne), alongside the leads from Suffragette and Brooklyn.

Ex Machina, also starring Domhnall Gleeson (and Alicia Vikander), is nominated for five awards, including Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Design Production, Best Visual Effects, and Best British Independent Film.

The nominations were announced by actress Gemma Chan, who is currently filming Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, and actor Thomas Brodie-Sangster. You can read more about the awards and see the full list of nominations here.
