RUMOR: Did Hackers Leak Information About Ilvermorny?

Ever since January, fans have been hoping for more information regarding Ilvermorny, the North American wizarding school. Initially, we hoped J.K. Rowling would reveal more about the school’s location and structure in her new writings about magic in North America, but the school was barely mentioned at all. Now, apparently impatient, hackers have allegedly investigated Pottermore’s source code to get new details.

A closer look at the code revealed a seemingly significant clue: “Where do you belong? Horned Serpent, Wampus, Thunderbird or Pukwudgie…”

Many sites have speculated that these are either Ilvermorny House names or House mascots. MuggleNet reached out to Pottermore for comment on the leaked information:

Last January, the name and general location of the wizarding school Ilvermorny was revealed in new writing by J.K. Rowling that was posted on pottermore.com. Pottermore has not confirmed details about the school since then. We will release and confirm new information about Ilvermorny in the near future.

At least two of these creatures, the Wampus and the Thunderbird, featured in Rowling’s writings on the wandmakers of America, and the Horned Serpent and the Pukwudgie are both beings from Native American mythology.

It is important to note that this information is unconfirmed. We’ll be sure to let you know when any new information about Ilvermorny is released!

I've been making magic at MuggleNet since 2012, when I first joined the staff as a News intern. I've never wavered from the declaration in my childhood journal, circa October 2000: "I LOVE Harry Potter! If I clean my room, my mom says she'll make me a dinner a wizard would love!" Proud Gryffindor; don't hate.
