Universal Studios Japan Casting a Magic Winter Spell

You can almost hear the iconic sound of John Williams’ “Christmas at Hogwarts” as the Wizarding World of Harry Potter parks around the world announce their plans for this holiday season. Previously, we told you about the plans for Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood; now, plans have been announced for Universal Studios Japan!

Beginning on Friday, November 10, 2017, Universal Japan will begin its winter festivities. In Hogsmeade, guests will have a chance to enjoy a Christmas tree and other seasonal decorations – at last, those snow topped roofs will seem appropriate!

In addition, a new projection mapping light show will drape Hogwarts Castle in “snow-capped spires and warm holiday lights” that are sure to make visitors brush off their dress robes and await the beginning of the Yule Ball! The show is titled “Hogwarts Magical Nights – Winter Magic.”

Universal Studios Japan announces brand-new winter experiences – “Universal Wonder Christmas” and “Winter In The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.” Starting Friday, November 10th, 2017, the two different experiences are sure to bring more excitement and joy than ever before, as they brilliantly light up the park on a grand scale.

　Universal Studios Japan’s Christmas tree comes back to debut as a “Dreamlike Tree of a Million Colors”. Dramatically changing its appearance as if different trees seem to appear one after another before your eyes, the tree will change its surroundings with light and music and fill those who see it with wonder. The climactic tree lighting ceremony caps the World’s Best Christmas Show※1. The finale of a pure and heartwarming story, the tree will use large scale projection mapping in an awesome dramatic show of light to bring warmth to all those watching. With the world’s largest character area opening this year and causing mayhem throughout the park, the Minions join the daytime parade dressed as Santa. Guests are sure to enjoy the Minions and their mischievous mayhem like colorful balloons and confetti, parading along to exciting Christmas songs for an energetic fun filled Christmas like never seen before.

　An all-new state-of-the-art projection mapping show is being introduced this season in “The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.” The large-scale show – “Hogwarts Magical Nights - Winter Magic” – will transform Hogwarts castle with snow-capped spires and warm holiday lights emanating from inside. The show continues by featuring scenery and images reminiscent of the Yule Ball. Park guests will have the chance to celebrate the arrival of the exciting holiday season with a Hogsmeade Christmas Tree and seasonal decorations. Guests can immerse themselves even further into the world of magic with the creation of the perfect winter wizarding world made of its warm and lively winter festivities that envelope the entire area.
