Anthony Boyle Paddle-Battles His Way to Victory!
Anthony Boyle (Scorpius Malfoy) is prepared for any magical duel, but the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child actor recently took part in another, very different battle. Facing off against the likes of Frozen‘s Jelani Alladin (Kristoff) and Wesley Taylor (Plankton) of SpongeBob SquarePants, Boyle played his way to victory in the Actors Fund’s first annual ping-pong Paddle Battle!

The three-hour tournament took place on August 27 at SPiN New York. Over that time period, Boyle trampled Alladin’s winning streak and then triumphed over Taylor in a very intense bout.
The road to the top wasn’t a short one – plenty of worthy opponents turned out for the event. Ari’el Stachel (The Band’s Visit), Jessica Vosk (Wicked, Fiddler on the Roof), Laura Osnes (Bandstand, Cinderella), Josh Canfield (The Great Comet), Alex Gibson (SpongeBob SquarePants), Hunter Ryan Herdlicka (A Little Night Music), Aaron Lazar (upcoming Dear Evan Hansen national tour, The Last Ship), Julia Murney (Wicked, The Wild Party), and Tony nominee Max von Essen (Anastasia) all competed valiantly for the top prize as guests looked on. Raffle winners, announced by Murney, took home spectacular prizes such as Broadway show tickets and getaway packages throughout the night.
Now that he’s proven his ping-pong prowess, we hope to see Anthony Boyle take on all sorts of Broadway tournaments! Maybe we’ll catch him in the Broadway Bowling League next year? In any case, congratulations to our favorite Malfoy for his Paddle Battle win!
