Wizards in a Winter Wonderland: Hogwarts in the Snow Returns to the Studio Tour
Winter has come to Hogwarts once again! The annual yuletide celebration known as Hogwarts in the Snow will return to Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter for the sixth time. The Great Hall will appear as it did on the night of the Yule Ball: covered in glittering icicles and snow-topped trees and coated in a layer of shimmering silver. The prop-making department will even set out a full holiday feast, complete with a flaming pudding!
This event is practically a masterclass in prop-making and SFX since attendees will be able to see how the crew creates special effects fire and dusts Hogwarts Castle with filmmaking snow (a mixture of granulated paper and salt). You’ll even get to see samples of the different types of “snow” used during production, each selected for its ability to float through the air, crunch underfoot, or glisten in the light like ice. The props department will also pull out original holiday props from the Gryffindor common room and boys’ dormitory sets, including handmade cards created by the cast members during production.
The entire Studio Tour gets a makeover for the holiday season, so it’s certainly a spectacle not to be missed! Hogwarts in the Snow will run from November 17 until January 27, and tickets are now on sale. Check out these photos of the transformation below, and join us in preparing for another breathtaking show!
