Events Roundup: “Harry Potter” Holiday Fun and an Immersive Hogwarts Event Await You

by Lainey Ruffner · Published December 17, 2018 · Updated March 20, 2019

We’ve got two great holiday events for you, including a series of library festivities complete with a movie marathon and a fabulous Harry Potter burlesque show! Then buy your tickets in advance for an incredible, immersive role-play event occurring in England in 2019.

Michigan Library Hosts Events Series and Movie Marathon

The Cascade Township Branch of Kent District Library in Grand Rapids, Michigan, is hosting a series of Harry Potter events from December 27 to January 5. The first event is a quidditch game for teens, followed by a Harry Potter festival with games, crafts, and other activities. The event concludes with a movie marathon showing all eight movies. Two movies will play each day from January 2 to 5 at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. All events are free and open to the public.

Holidays at Hogwarts

If you’re looking for some Harry Potter fun to fill this holiday season, a theatrical show based on Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts characters is making its way around Texas. Upcoming tour dates take place from December 20 to 29. With five shows left, there are plenty of opportunities to catch Holiday at Hogwarts: The Tour in one of five cities, including San Antonio, Houston, and Austin.

Her Sins Burlesque & Cabaret is hosting the star-studded event consisting of interactive performances, comedy, aerial artists, live singing, drag performances, large props, and sideshow acts. The events will also offer Harry Potter trivia, raffle prizes, photo opportunities, games, and a costume contest. There will be a vendor area with themed merchandise by local artisans and commemorative tour merch.

Bothwell School of Witchcraft Role-Play Experience

If you’ve finally accepted defeat and acknowledged that your Hogwarts letter likely isn’t coming, but you still haven’t given up on your dream of living out your own magical adventure inside an incredible castle, this may be your best chance. Bothwell School of Witchcraft is an incredible 4-day role-play experience held in East Sussex, England. The event allows you to choose between the role of a student or professor; one lucky guest will also be selected for the role of headmaster. Attendees are given a survey before arrival to better determine their preferences and are then cast in a role that seems to suit them best.

The event consists of lessons in witchcraft, sorting into four unique Houses, a competition for the House shield, a celebration at the school’s banquet and ball, all meals included, and a stay in a 15th-century castle. The beautiful red-brick Herstmonceux Castle also has 300 acres of accessible gardens and grounds. There are two events this year, April 19–22 and August 8–11. You can get your tickets to the event here.
