New Zealand Mint Adds Newt Scamander to Its Wizarding World Chibi Coin Merchandise Series

First, it was the Harry Potter characters: Severus Snape, then Voldemort, then Sirius Black. Now, it’s Fantastic Beasts turn to join the pint-sized cuteness with newly released Newt Scamander chibi coins, part of New Zealand Mint’s line of chibi coin collectibles. They are officially licensed Warner Bros. merchandise, and there are only 2,000 of them in mintage.

Weighing in at 1 oz., each pure silver coin features an unkempt Newt Scamander with his signature outfit: blue trenchcoat, orange-brown suit, and Hufflepuff scarf. The design is chibi style, which means that our favorite Magizoologist has a larger head and smaller body for maximum adorableness.

Does Newt Scamander in chibi coin form look like Eddie Redmayne in the films?

A Fantastic Beasts-themed collector’s box and a custom-made case come with each coin to protect your prized collectible. As with previous coins, this one will also be imprinted with the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, making it legal tender, and a Certificate of Authenticity on the box.

The collector’s box is specially designed with a clear window to keep your coin safe from any nosy Nifflers around.

Due to the coin’s rarity, every household will be limited to only three purchases, and customers who placed orders during the prepurchase window are ineligible to purchase more. Each coin costs US$99.00 and can be bought at the New Zealand mint website. With only 2,000 in stock, you’d want to run faster than a Billywig can fly to grab yours before they run out!
