Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi Will Have Three New “Harry Potter” Rides
Back in November 2022, Warner Bros. and entertainment company Miral revealed that Yas Island’s Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi would receive a brand-new land themed around Harry Potter. The announcement surprised fans around the world, marking the first time Warner Bros. was developing a Wizarding World theme park without Universal, which traditionally held the reins on these Harry Potter attractions.
Since then, anticipation has only grown. Fans are familiar with the thrilling rides Universal has created elsewhere – like Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey and Flight of the Hippogriff – but this time, the United Arab Emirates park cannot replicate those experiences. Universal retains the rights to the existing attraction concepts, forcing Warner Bros. to think differently. Far from a setback, this challenge opens the door to innovation, giving designers the chance to craft rides and experiences never seen before.
MEED now reports that three brand-new rides will form the heart of the expansion, which will span roughly 40,000 square meters (430,000 square feet). The development is part of a massive 2–3 billion AED ($545–816 million US) construction package, which also includes retail outlets and food and beverage facilities. All of this will be built inside the world’s largest indoor theme park, already home to beloved characters such as Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Scooby-Doo, and Tom and Jerry.

An official opening date has yet to be announced, but excitement is running high. Fans worldwide are refreshing the Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi website in hopes of glimpsing what kind of magic awaits them in Abu Dhabi.
And while the details remain under wraps, there is reason for optimism. In an interview with Forbes, Miral’s chief executive, Mohamed Al Zaabi, teased, “There will be a great announcement this year with a great milestone. Stay tuned; you will hear good news. I’m very excited about it. The project is moving in the right direction, and I can’t wait to open that expansion.”
For now, all eyes are on Yas Island – where a new chapter of the Wizarding World is preparing to unfold.
