Tom Felton to Star in “A United Kingdom” and “Message to the King”

by Cheyenne Padgett · October 10, 2015

In the past few years, Tom Felton, who played the beloved and misunderstood Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter films, has been a busy bee, starring in a variety of films and television shows. His most recent projects, Stratton and Risen, are set to be released in 2016.

Felton will also star in two more upcoming films, A United Kingdom and Message to the King, both of which are due to be released in 2016 as well.

Earlier today, it was announced that Felton will star in the upcoming film A United Kingdom, which given the summary of the film, will be a role unlike any other he has played.

The film tells the true story of the relationship between Seretse Khama, the chief[-]to[-]be of the powerful Bamangwato tribe in the British colony of Bechuanaland in the late 1940s, and a white, middle-class Englishwoman, Ruth Williams, and how hostility to their marriage exposed the racism of the British government. Khama later become the first president of Botswana, following its independence.

The film is set to include several other famous actors. Jack Davenport, who played James Norrington in The Pirates of the Caribbean, is in final negotiations to join the cast of stars. Other known cast members include three-time BAFTA nominee Nicholas Lyndhurst, Downton Abbey star Laura Carmichael, and Arnold Oceng, who starred alongside Reese Witherspoon in The Good Lie.

Little is known about Felton’s second upcoming role in Message to the King apart what has been released on his fan page. From there we do learn that he will play a guy named Frankie and get a sneak peak of the summary. It looks as if we have another good movie to look forward to!

A mysterious outsider named Jacob King from South Africa arrives in Los Angeles to avenge his younger sister’s death.

Starring alongside Felton in his Frankie role will be Chadwick Boseman, Teresa Palmer, Luke Evans, and Alfred Molina. We do know that filming has already begun in Los Angeles with director Fabrice Du Welz and the Ink Factory’s Stephen Cornwell and Simon Cornwell producing.

We can’t wait to learn more about Felton’s new roles and see him in action.

What do you think about these movies so far? What has been your favorite Felton role since Potter?
