MinaLima Launches Nine New “Fantastic Beasts” Graphics!

by Gayane Kaligian · November 17, 2017

You know MinaLima as the talented graphics team behind all of the newspapers, posters, and maps in the Harry Potter films. They returned to the franchise last year for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and created a wonderful set of images for the movie, but we found ourselves craving more of their incredible work. Luckily, Miraphora Mina and Eduardo Lima heard our pleas and released nine brand-new images from Fantastic Beasts!

The new prints include MACUSA’s Contravention Map, which tracks illegal spellcasting in the US, and the Scars of Salem book, which offers a glimpse into the magical world of 1920s America. Queenie Goldstein’s haberdashery set and Newt Scamander’s Creature Care dial also make an appearance. Take a look at them below, tell us which one is your favorite, and don’t forget to mark your calendars for the release of Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald on November 16!

Press Release

Graphic Design studio MinaLima releases nine new collectable art prints of graphic designs from Warner Bros. Pictures’ highly successful Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

The online launch of the previously unseen prints marks the one-year anniversary of J.K. Rowling’s international screenwriting debut.

The new prints from Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, which are available worldwide via minalima.com from Friday 17 November 2017, reveal details from the main characters’ day-to-day lives: from Newt Scamander’s Creature Care Dial, a ministration chart to assist magical creature welfare and development, to a series of books belonging to the Goldstein sisters to Queenie’s Haberdashery Set.

Prints of the spell Contravention Map - MACUSA’s magical map which tracks illegal spell casting in the USA and Scars of Salem book offer a glimpse into the magical world of 1920s’ America.

With the graphic designs being an integral part of the storytelling, MinaLima’s attention to detail is paramount in their work. Much historical research and experimentation with techniques is employed, from finding the perfect aging effects to scanning old typefaces and period details; all contributing to create an authentic visual language for the story.

Potter Quote

“I suggest you both go up to Madam Pomfrey. She is already tending to Miss Fawcett, of Ravenclaw, and Mr. Summers, of Hufflepuff, both of whom decided to age themselves up a little too. Though I must say, neither of their beards is anything like as fine as yours.”
