Helena Bonham Carter (Bellatrix Lestrange) is among the members of the all-female ensemble cast of Ocean’s 8, which is set for theatrical release on June 8. The film just got its latest trailer, which you can watch below.

 

 

Chris Columbus, who directed the first two Harry Potter films, has provided an update to Metro USA on one of his latest projects, a film adaptation of the Five Nights at Freddy’s series of video games.

Columbus said that he got on board with the project because of its smaller budget.

I was attracted to doing a film on a smaller budget that would normally in my head cost millions and millions of dollars. After working with all of these directors who figured out what you could do on a tight budget that made me interested in something like ‘Freddy’.

As we wrote last week, Warwick Davis (Professor Flitwick and Griphook) has a cameo appearance in Solo: A Star Wars Story.

Entertainment Weekly provided a brief history of Davis’s involvement in the Star Wars franchise.

Stephen Fry, who narrated the UK versions of the Harry Potter audiobooks, will be performing at the Shaw Festival in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, this year! According to BroadwayWorld, the actor will be debuting his work Mythos: A Trilogy - Gods. Heroes. Men. Each of the three shows (Gods, Heroes, and Men) will be shown thirteen times and can be seen alone or together.

'Mythos' - Greek for 'story' - is loosely scripted, giving the audience a chance to hear Stephen's signature wit and humour in action. With his vast knowledge of Greek mythology, Stephen has too many stories even for three shows, so his audience will help choose which tales to tell - making 'Mythos' a different show every time. While the three 'Mythos' productions each stand alone, they also constitute a sequence so that those who attend all three will follow a wonderfully satisfying story.

Fry will stage Mythos at the Shaw Festival until July 15. You can learn more about the festival here.

Toby Jones, the voice of Dobby, will voice Owl in the upcoming Disney film Christopher Robin. While we have yet to see (or hear) Owl, the film’s official poster has been released.

The film stars Ewan McGregor as a grown-up Christopher Robin, alongside CGI versions of the characters from the Winnie-the-Pooh stories.

 

 

Steve Kloves, who wrote the screenplays for all of the Harry Potter films except the fifth, is one of the producers of the upcoming film Mowgli. The film, based on The Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling, was written by Kloves’s daughter, Callie Kloves. The first official trailer for Mowgli has been released, and you can find it below!

 

 

Helen McCrory (Narcissa Malfoy) has been cast in MotherFatherSon, an “eight-part original drama” that will air on BBC Two. The Hollywood Reporter reported the news.

'MotherFatherSon' will see Gere play Max, a charismatic self-made American businessman with media outlets in London and around the world. McCrory will play Kathryn, a British heiress who has been estranged from Max following the breakdown of their marriage some years before. Their 30-year-old son, Caden (Howle), runs Max’s U.K. newspaper and is primed to follow in his father’s footsteps as one of the most powerful men in the world. But when Caden’s self-destructive lifestyle spirals out of control, the devastating consequences threaten the future of the family, its empire and a country on the brink of change.

Filming is expected to begin this summer.

Clémence Poésy (Fleur Delacour) will soon appear in the final season of her crime television series The Tunnel. PBS has announced that the series’ third and final season will begin airing on July 1, according to a report from The Futon Critic, which posted the official press release from PBS. The final season, also known as The Tunnel: Vengeance, premiered on Sky Atlantic late last year.

Timothy Spall (Peter Pettigrew) was interviewed by the Guardian about his latest project, Stanley, A Man of Variety, in which "he concocts a blistering string of recreations of several of the great comic variety acts of the past, incuding Max Wall, George Formby and Noël Coward."

In the interview, Spall discussed his intentions for the film.

What I particularly wanted to get across in 'Stanley, A Man of Variety' was this massive feeling I have about what it was really like to grow up in the postwar era. The point is, without wanting to get too intellectual about it, beyond all this affability there is a disquieting side. In fact, all the jolliness is underpinned by it.

Stanley, A Man of Variety will be released in London on June 15. It will be released in the rest of the UK on June 26.

David Thewlis (Remus Lupin) has joined the cast of the Netflix adult animated comedy series Big Mouth, writes Deadline Hollywood.

Thewlis will join the fantastical character roster as The Shame Wizard, the Hormone Monster’s (Nick Kroll) mortal enemy who haunts the kids, stoking their deepest shame.

Both Emma Thompson (Professor Trelawney) and Jim Broadbent (Professor Slughorn) can be seen in the upcoming BBC adaptation of Shakespeare’s King Lear. Thompson plays Goneril, King Lear’s eldest daughter, while Broadbent plays the Earl of Gloucester. King Lear will air on BBC Two at 9:30 p.m. local time on Monday, May 28.

Sophie Thompson (Mafalda Hopkirk, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1) will star as Lady Bracknell in the Classic Spring Theatre Company’s production of The Importance of Being Earnest, BroadwayWorld writes.

'The Importance of Being Earnest' is the last in a cycle of productions celebrating the great iconoclast, which has included all four of Wilde's major social comedies, a solo performance of 'De Profundis' by Simon Callow, now transferring to Edinburgh Festival Fringe, a reworking of Wilde's fairy tales for children presented by Tall Stories, and a musical version of 'The Selfish Giant', presented in Northampton and London. These productions have been seen by over 120,000 people in the Vaudeville, and 80,000 more on cinema screens.

The Importance of Being Earnest will begin its run on July 20 at the Vaudeville Theatre. You can visit the theater’s official box office here.

Sir Colin Callender, one of the producers of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, was recently featured on the Variety podcast Strictly Business. On the podcast, Callender spoke about the play and some of his other projects, including the miniseries adaptations of Little Women (starring Sir Michael Gambon) and King Lear (starring Emma Thompson and Jim Broadbent).

Noma Dumezweni (Hermione Granger) and Jamie Parker (Harry Potter), who are currently starring in the Broadway production of Cursed Child, will appear as guests on CBS This Morning on Tuesday, May 29! BroadwayWorld published the show’s scheduled guests for the coming week.

Gareth Fry, the sound designer for Cursed Child, will be doing the sound design for Max Webster’s production of Shakespeare’s As You Like It, LondonTheatre.co.uk has announced. The production will be staged at the Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre from July 11 to July 28, with previews beginning July 6.

Johnny Depp (Gellert Grindelwald) can be seen in the new trailer for his upcoming film City of Lies. Based on the novel of the same name by Randall Sullivan, IndieWire writes that Depp plays the role of Russell Poole, an L.A.P.D. detective who spent years trying to solve the death of rapper The Notorious B.I.G.

City of Lies will be released on September 7.

During a recent appearance at Wizard World Philadelphia, Ezra Miller (Credence Barebone) was asked if he would ever make a cameo appearance in the CW television series The Flash, since the actor is also known for playing the character of the same name in the DC Extended Universe. Unfortunately for fans, Miller's ultimate response was, "I don't know."

Miller has, however, met with the directors of the upcoming film centered on the Flash, Comicbook.com additionally reports. Miller also revealed the news at Wizard World Philadelphia.

I met [the directors, John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein] recently. They're really, really, really cool guys. I really like their work a lot, and I think they're really great.

Finally, Miller expressed a desire to fight Savitar, the villain of the third season of the CW's The Flash series, writes Inverse.

There’s a lot that just come from the world of the Flash and various Rogues. It’s hard to choose a favorite. Savitar, I really love those — a lot of those plotlines. So, I’ll say that for now.

Katherine Waterston (Porpentina Goldstein) spoke to Metro USA about her upcoming film Mid-90s, directed by Jonah Hill. Although little is known about the coming-of-age drama, Metro noted that "... it revolves around Sunny Suljic’s teenager Stevie, and his relationships with his school friends, older brother, played by Lucas Hedges, and his mother, portrayed by Waterston."

Waterston also gave a few details about the plot.

It is about a skateboarding kid, there’s also the family story that’s very intense and painful and complicated. I play the mum. But she’s not a typical mom. Lucas Hedges is my other son.

No release date for the film has been announced.
