Castium Revelio: The Wonderful Casting Post of Oz!

by Mary Wojcicki · June 16, 2018

Welcome back to another edition of MuggleNet’s Casting News. As always, this is your weekly update on the latest projects from our magical alumni! Let’s dive right in! Castium Revelio!

Harry Potter
There's no way to deny that Helena Bonham Carter (Bellatrix Lestrange) has been busy lately, doing press for her new release, Ocean's 8, and getting ready to take over the role of Princess Margaret in the web television series The Crown. The actress appeared on The Graham Norton Show on Friday with Ocean's 8 costars Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Sarah Paulson, and Rihanna, where Bonham Carter also discussed her role in The Crown.

The Daily Mail quotes Bonham Carter as saying that she is "posh, but not that posh," in response to a question about Princess Margaret's royal accent.

You can watch a clip from the episode of The Graham Norton Show below.

Chris Rankin (Percy Weasley) will be coming to the stage this Christmas for a pantomime of The Wizard of Oz! Rankin will perform in the Bradford Playhouse Christmas Pantomime as the Scarecrow, the Telegraph & Argus writes. Rankin was also quoted in the article.

I am really looking forward to being in front of a live audience and being involved in the whole family panto experience. I have appeared in a number of pantomimes but always as the baddie so I am really looking forward to playing Scarecrow.

The Telegraph & Argus notes that the pantomime will run from December 21 to December 30. Ticketing information can be found here, on the website of the Bradford Playhouse.

Mark Williams (Arthur Weasley) will return to television for the seventh season of Father Brown, RadioTimes writes. The seventh season of the daytime drama series has been announced by the BBC, and RadioTimes has provided some additional information about what fans of the show can expect.

Mrs McCarthy (Sorcha Cusack), Inspector Mallory (Jack Deam) and Bunty Windermere (Emer Kenny) will also all be back to assist Father Brown in solving a new set of mysteries, while Nancy Carroll is slated once again to play Lady Felicia, who will return to Kembleford from Northern Rhodesia in need of help. And Brown’s nemesis Hercule Flambeau (John Light) may be the only one who can provide it…

Father Brown, which first aired in 2013, will return to BBC One "early next year."

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
A teaser trailer has been released for Disney's upcoming live-action version of the classic film Dumbo, which stars Colin Farrell (Percival Graves) as the character Holt Farrier. Entertainment Weekly has posted both the trailer and some exclusive stills as a first look at Farrell's character, which you can view here.

Farrell, 42, plays Holt Farrier, seen above in an exclusive first look with Eva Green, who plays aerial acrobat Colette Marchant. Holt is a former horse showman who returns from World War I a widower and having lost an arm, coming home to his two children and a circus on the verge of financial ruin, run by Max Medici (Danny DeVito).

You can watch the trailer for Dumbo below.

Dumbo will be released in March 2019.

Finally, there is some substantial news about Ezra Miller's standalone film as the Flash! The actor, known for playing Credence Barebone in Fantastic Beasts, is also known for being a cast member in the DC Extended Universe.

The Hollywood Reporter writes that Miller's The Flash will begin production early next year. It sounds as though there are some changes being planned to the film, which will not be as dark as previously thought.

'The Flash', which will finally begin production in early 2019 with Ezra Miller starring, has abandoned the somber themes it had been expected to tackle. The film now has the Game Night team of John Francis Daly and Jonathan Goldstein on board, and it's looking to 'Back to the Future' as a touchstone.

That’s all for this week’s Casting News, but we’ll be back again next week with even more magical updates. Until then, let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
