“Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” Audiobook Now Available in Arabic

Despite its many tricky spell names and unique character etymology, the wizarding world has permeated almost every corner of the Muggle world and has been translated into an incredible 80 languages. Now, with the popularity of audiobooks on the rise in our busy but magical society, audio translations are fast becoming a necessity. The latest language addition to Harry Potter’s audiobook résumé is Arabic.

Storytel, an international audiobook publishing company, has announced that the Arabic-language audiobook of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone is now available for download on its app.

Storytel, it seems, is heavily invested in the magic of the wizarding world. Just 12 weeks ago at the Cairo International Book Fair, the company announced that it would collaborate with Pottermore Publishing. This partnership is an exciting one, with its unveiling including a fantastic Q&A session and a live reading by Samaan Ferizali, the renowned voice-over artist who narrated the Arabic version of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone and will also narrate the rest of the series, which will be released gradually over the course of 2019.

With over 150 spellbinding characters to breathe life into, Ferizali has certainly had his work cut out for him, but there seems to be no doubt that he is up to the task. Meanwhile, Storytel is excited to make the magical twists and turns of Potter more accessible to an Arabic-speaking audience. The Country Manager for Storytel Arabia, Ammar Mardawi, spoke of the company’s goal.
