Events Roundup: “Harry Potter” Drag Dinner, Yule Ball Murder Mystery, and More Are Perfect Holiday Activities

The holidays are right around the corner! This has definitely been a magical year for the wizarding community, and it will be a magical holiday season too. Start the holidays off with a bang this year with a full to-do list of Harry Potter activities!

 

Harry Potter Drag Dinner at Le Moo

A drag show featuring all our favorite Harry Potter characters? Yass, queen! Le Moo in Louisville, Kentucky, is offering this truly unique experience Monday, November 25, starting at 7:00 p.m. The wonderful Phi Phi O’Hara, from RuPaul’s Drag Race, will also be part of the evening’s entertainment. Le Moo encourages guests of all ages to attend. The entrance fee is $50 and covers dinner and the entertainment for the evening. After the show, performers will host a meet-and-greet with the audience. Plan your reservations soon!

 

Christmas Tours at Liberty Hall Museum

If you’re ready to just skip over Thanksgiving and head straight into Christmas shenanigans, you’re not alone! Christmas tours, hosted by the Liberty Hall Museum in Union, New Jersey, are starting Friday, November 29 and will run through Saturday, December 28. Tours begin at 10:00 a.m. and run until 3:00 p.m., so plan your day accordingly! Areas and rooms of the museum are being transformed into some of your favorite rooms from Hogwarts. Guests of the tours will be Sorted into Houses (because what’s a transformed Hogwarts Castle without a Sorting Ceremony?) and offered the comfort of the Gryffindor common room, the majesty of the Great Hall, the chilliness of Snape’s Potions classroom, and so much more! Tickets are $12 per person.

 

Feast like a Wizard in the Great Hall of Hogwarts

If you’re not quite ready to skip the Thanksgiving Day feast, then this event is right up your alley; Diagon Alley, that is. The Elkridge Furnace Inn, located in Elkridge, Maryland, has been turned into the Great Hall for its spectacular feast happening Saturday, November 23 at 5:30 p.m. Witches, wizards, and Muggles of all ages are invited and encouraged to dress in their Hogwarts best. Tickets run at $62.50 per person, and each guest will have their choice of two appetizers, three entrees, and three desserts. In addition to the wonderful fall feeling of a feast with friends, the Elkridge Furnace Inn asks guests to participate in Dobby’s Donations. To donate, simply bring (clean and new) socks, hats, gloves, and other warm clothing to be donated to those in need this season.

 

Augusta’s Third Annual Harry Potter Pub Crawl

Saturday, November 23 will be the third annual Harry Potter pub crawl for Augusta, Georgia. The event will begin at 8:00 p.m. on Broad Street in downtown Augusta. Guests need only to start on Broad Street and follow the “9 3/4 Crawl Stop” signs posted throughout the downtown area. There are no admission or cover fees to participate in this event. Harry Potter cosplay is welcomed and encouraged to make the evening all it can be. Each stop along the crawl map will have assorted special cocktails for attendees, none of which are announced until you arrive at the stop! All you have to do is keep up with the group and have fun.

 

Wizards Beerfest at the Del Mar Fairgrounds

The Del Mar fairgrounds in San Diego, California, is hosting is a very magical event on Saturday, November 30. Wizards Beerfest is “an event full of magic, music, mischief, and beer; plus an opportunity for Harry Potter fans to come together and celebrate.“ The festivities will begin at noon sharp and go on until 5:00 p.m. Specialty drinks will be made available, including “buttered beer,” crafted in a secret brewery exclusive to Southern California. Entertainment will come in the form of live performances from the Slytherin Sisters; DJ Professor Snape-e-nem, playing his own versions of all the greatest hits of Muggle artist Eminem; DJ DumbelDore Dance House Set; and the Red Headed Party Band. Tickets are available for $42 per person.

 

A Wizarding Murder Mystery Event

The Yule Ball is a time-honored tradition of the wizarding world, but adding a murder mystery to the plot is taking things to a whole new level! Geeky Teas and Games is hosting the event in Burbank, California, on Sunday, December 1 at 7:00 p.m. Those in attendance must be 21 years or older to participate. Tickets are on sale for $49.75 per person. The admission price includes a butterbeer or wine, a magical souvenir photo, and three hours of murder mystery fun.

 

A Harry Potter Adventure in York

Learn about the wizarding world through A Harry Potter Adventure in York. The Cholera Burial Ground, near the Principal York Hotel, in York, England, is hosting this exciting event on Saturday, November 23 at 10:30 a.m. Activities to enjoy include trivia quizzes, character reenactments, duels with members of other Houses, and a Sorting Ceremony. Tickets are for sale online for £11.01.
