Join MuggleNet on Instagram Live for Exclusive Interviews with Cast Members from “Fantastic Beasts”

by Hannah Howard · April 6, 2020

If you have been looking for something to watch during quarantine, check out MuggleNet’s Instagram for some exciting interviews! MuggleNet staff members have been and will be interviewing cast and crew from Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts as well as some other prominent people from the Wizarding World throughout the month of April. There have been several interviews with stars of the Fantastic Beasts film series so far, with more to come.

The first interview was with the amazing Poppy Corby-Tuech, who plays Vinda Rosier in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. Not only is Corby-Tuech a proud Slytherin, but she also believes some of the most important people in the series are in Slytherin, which is why she loves the House. She describes a truly magical-sounding day of filming as her favorite memory. It was Halloween and Corby-Tuech was standing in the midst of the immersive Crimes of Grindelwald set, dressed as a witch, with chilly and windy weather to set the atmosphere. She also spoke with excitement about the day the actors received their wands for the first time, describing it as like Christmas Day. To add a fun tidbit about filming, Corby-Tuech also told us how each actor received two wands – a real wand and a stunt wand – which were used for different scenes. The real wand was for show while the stunt wand was for scenes where they might drop their wand.

MuggleNet also interviewed Joshua Shea, who plays young Newt Scamander in Crimes of Grindelwald. Shea is currently continuing his schooling through online classes, writing music, and staying home with his parents and his cat. Contrary to his feelings of loyalty toward Newt Scamander’s House, Shea told MuggleNet that his Hogwarts House is actually Ravenclaw. Fans were interested to know what some of his favorite memories from the set of Crimes of Grindelwald were, and Shea definitely delivered with some fun ones. His favorite memory was, of course, meeting Eddie Redmayne, who plays adult Newt Scamander. He spoke about a magical moment when he was sitting with Redmayne and in preparation for his role, watching the scene from Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban where Lupin is showing the students how to cast the Boggart-Banishing Spell. Shea also mentioned that he plans to watch Harry Potter films during his time in quarantine.

The next Fantastic Beasts interview was with David Sakurai, who plays Krall in Crimes of Grindelwald. First things first – Sakurai is not currently set to appear in the upcoming Fantastic Beasts films, according to his interview. He believes that his character, Krall, died in the blue flames that Grindelwald conjures. However, he supports the theory that Leta is still alive somewhere, mainly because that also means his character is not completely gone. He spoke highly about working with Johnny Depp as Grindelwald since Depp was and still is one of Sakurai’s favorite actors. Sakurai told MuggleNet a fun tidbit regarding his costume. The coat that Krall wears throughout Crimes of Grindelwald was originally supposed to be Grindelwald’s jacket, but the designers opted for a different design, giving the jacket to Krall instead. When asked about his favorite memories from the set, Sakurai talked about how much fun it was to work with Kevin Guthrie, who plays Abernathy. He said that Guthrie loved to crack jokes on set, almost always right before all the actors had to get into character.

The most recent Fantastic Beasts interview was with Victoria Yeates, who plays Bunty in Crimes of Grindelwald. The most interesting piece of information to come out of her interview was simply the fact that Bunty is a character in the upcoming third installment in the film series! She shared an interesting story about her original audition. She didn’t actually know that she was auditioning for Fantastic Beasts until she had been offered the part. Yeates said that her favorite memory from the set was simply walking onto it. The entire set was filled with magical details to catch anyone’s eye. Yeates‘s favorite character from the entire Wizarding World is Ron Weasley – she believes Ron is a brilliant character and that Rupert Grint portrays him excellently.

If you want to catch the upcoming interviews, check out this exciting lineup! Each interview will be held live on MuggleNet’s Instagram account and will later be posted to MuggleNet’s IGTV for those who missed the livestream or would like to watch them again.
