Events Roundup: Explore London, Dine at the Kentucky Castle, and Binge a 24-Hour Movie Marathon in Berlin

by Aly Kirk · July 7, 2020

It’s July, so you know what that means, right? Well, in case you don’t, it’s almost Harry’s birthday! The Boy Who Lived will be living into his 40s, and hopefully many more years to come. Muggles around the world will, no doubt, be celebrating Potter’s birthday, and if you’re still trying to figure out a way to spend it, we have a few activities for you to try out.

Wizarding Trivia and Dinner

The Kentucky Castle is hosting a birthday celebration in Harry’s name on Monday, July 27 at 7:30 p.m. EDT. The event will consist of a dinner and trivia contest. The winner of the contest will receive a free night’s stay at the Kentucky Castle. The dinner menu will include dishes like Gillyweed Salad, Golden Snitch Rolls, House Elf Roasted Chicken, Mrs. Weasley’s Pumpkin Pastries, and more. Tickets are available based on the number of guests per party and start at $150 for two people.

London Treasure Hunt

The entire city of London has turned into the spot for a massive treasure hunt. The event is scheduled from May 6, 2020, until January 4, 2021, so you can play anytime in between and at your own pace. Once you purchase your tickets online, you’ll gain access to special instructions and the app that will guide you through London’s most magical destinations. You’ll see all the spots that inspired the Harry Potter story. Tickets are £14.99, and it is recommended to be played with up to four people per app.

24-Hour Movie Marathon Event

Binging the entire collection of Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts movies in a single sitting is not an easy feat. We would know – we’ve done it. But it’s some of the most fun you could ever have. Babylon, a theater in Berlin, Germany, is hosting a 24-hour marathon of all ten films just for you. The event is scheduled to start Friday, September 4 and will run through Saturday, September 5. But tickets are going fast, so it’s probably best to grab a spot as soon as possible. The tickets are €36.00 per person and can be reserved online. You can purchase a ticket to watch the movies in either German or English.

Magical Night of Literacy and Movie in the Park

A Harry Potter festival is yet another way to spend Harry’s birthday this year. Scheduled for Friday, July 31, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., the Magical Night of Literacy and Movie in the Park is sure to be a hoot for the whole family. Activities include book giveaways for kids, booths with all kinds of fun, a scavenger hunt, a costume contest, and crafts. To end the night, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone will play for those in attendance at 9:15 p.m., so bring your lawn chairs. The festival will be at the Veteran’s Park in Soddy-Daisy, Tennessee, and is free to attend.

We hope you enjoy Harry’s birthday this year in style. Check back later for more events near you!
