Everyone knows that “Harry Potter” fans are some of the best people in the world. You can walk into a room of strangers at a “Harry Potter” event, and by the time you leave you know most of their names and haven’t spent a minute not having anyone to talk to since you arrived. There’s a certain connection we have all formed with each other through these special books that is really interesting. In light of MuggleNet’s upcoming convention, I thought I would reflect on a few of my favorite memories of interactions I’ve had with other fans at “Potter” events in the past.
In light of MuggleNet’s own convention, MuggleNet Live! 2015: Expo Patronum, here is a list of practical and fun things everyone should do when attending a “Harry Potter” convention.
Each of the Hogwarts Houses is represented by an animal, but it seems that the only two that have obvious connections to the characteristics valued by their assigned Houses are the Gryffindor lion and Slytherin’s serpent. In this post I’m aiming to find what the connection is between the golden eagle and the values of Ravenclaw House.
Each of the Hogwarts houses is represented by an animal: Gryffindor has its lion; Ravenclaw, its eagle; Slytherin, its serpent; and Hufflepuff, its badger. With animals having different meanings to cultures, religions, and societies, I thought it would be interesting to explore the symbolism behind these four animals in a series of posts. I’ll start with Gryffindor’s lion. While the connection between Gryffindor’s rapport with bravery and the courageous symbol of the lion is obvious, there are a few other important meanings to note.
Albus Dumbledore indisputably has some of the best quotes of the “Harry Potter” series. His remarks range from inspirational to cleverly humorous and are always carefully crafted and witty. Here are ten of Dumbledore’s best quotes. Of course, there are far more than ten, but this list is just a start. Feel free to post some of your favorite quotes in the comments section.
This list is dedicated to those of us who are sometimes accused of being “insufferable know-it-alls.”
I packed enough stuff to fill an apartment, even though I was moving into one half of a closet-sized room. I had the essentials, such as clothes, bedding, a suitcase dedicated solely to shoes, and a box of food for the nights when the dining hall dinners looked inedible, but mixed in with my textbooks were all seven volumes about the boy wizard’s adventures.
I recently served as a panelist for Robercon, a local convention. Our main focus was the endurance of Harry Potter and what the future holds for the series. My fellow panelists and I raised the question, “Will Harry Potter stay around and what might keep it in the hearts of readers in the future?”
