At LeakyCon, the Harry Potter Alliance (HPA) Executive Director Andrew Slack launched a new campaign at a press conference called Equality FTW. So far Equality FTW has raised almost $40,000 for immigration, education, and LGBTQ equality.

As we informed you previously, the Harry Potter Alliance (HPA) is in the middle of one of their most important campaigns – Equality FTW. And they NEED YOUR HELP! Until September 8, the HPA is joining forces with members of the Harry Potter community to help make this campaign achievable.

Previously, we shared a video from Julian Gomez, an undocumented American, which launched the Harry Potter Alliance’s first Imagine Better campaign called Equality For The Win. This campaign launch now needs the support of the entire Harry Potter community, and there is something in it for you as well.

Recently, Bonnie Wright – who portrayed Ginny Weasley in the Harry Potter films – spent time on a trip to western Africa to learn more about the current food crisis. The Oxfam ambassador spoke this morning with Sky News about her trip and how governments can help the situation.

Dame Maggie Smith – who portrayed Professor Minerva McGonagall in the Harry Potter films – made a wish come true for Evan, who is nine years old and living with a twisted cervical spine and Heptoblastoma (liver cancer), when she agreed to meet him at a local hotel in Cambridge as part of the UK Make-A-Wish program.
