Deathly Hallows – Part 1’s midnight box office numbers revealed

Variety has the United States overnight box office numbers for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1.

The film pulled in $24 million and is expected to surpass the $100 million mark this weekend as it runs on 4,125 United States screens.

It did not surpass the $30-million midnight record previously set by The Twilight Saga: Eclipse in June.  This could be for a multitude of reasons, but the most probable is the fact that Eclipse was released when students did not have school the following morning.
