Join Julie Walters in Burberry’s “Billy Elliot” Advertisement!

It has been 15 years since the release of Billy Elliot, the British dance drama film on which the musical of the same name was based. To celebrate, fashion house Burberry has created a Christmas advertising campaign inspired by the film, in which Julie Walters (Mrs. Weasley) played Mrs. Wilkinson, Billy’s dance instructor.

As the Telegraph writes, the fun doesn’t stop there, because Burberry is hosting a “very special experience” at its flagship store on London’s Regent Street:

Until Christmas Eve, shoppers will be able to enjoy bouncing around on a trampoline while being filmed alongside Naomi Campbell, James Corden and Julie Walters in the luxury brand’s festive campaign (video below), which is inspired by the hit film Billy Elliot. Customers will then be sent a copy of the 15-second footage that they can share and watch on YouTube, accompanied by T. Rex’s mesmerising Cosmic Dancer soundtrack.

Burberry has teamed up with Google for the project, using “real-time video stitching technology” to accomplish the effect. The Telegraph explains,

All the activity takes place in a designated booth, where footage of individuals jumping in the style of the advert is then placing [sic] the footage within the film itself.

In a behind-the-scenes video for the advertisement, the celebrities featured give some advice to shoppers who plan on trampolining. Walters advises,

Make sure you’ve had a wee before you start.
