Lumos Offers “Fantastic” Rewards in New Fundraising Campaign

On August 11, the Lumos Twitter account teased that it had “quite the surprise” in store, accompanied by an image that gave only a date, times, and the logo for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

Pottermore soon joined in on the suspense, adding that the surprise would be found on both “the Lumos and Pottermore social channels” at the given time. Then, earlier today, Pottermore revealed that Alison Sudol and Dan Fogler would be a part of the special announcement, along with Lumos CEO Georgette Mulheir, but no other clues were given.

Now we know just what it was that Lumos and Pottermore were keeping a surprise from the rest of us! Mulheir, Sudol, and Fogler went live on Periscope to share that the charity’s latest fundraising campaign will offer fans the chance to win some very cool prizes in exchange for donating.

The big announcement, of course, is the grand prize. One lucky supporter of Lumos will win the following:

You and a guest can win the chance to join the [p]roducer and [d]irector for a behind-the-scenes VIP experience!

  • Visit the set of the sequel to Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
  • Meet members of the cast and crew of the film
  • Round trip air transportation for two to London, England, courtesy of American Airlines
  • 3-night stay in a Four-Star hotel in London, generously supported by Scholastic
  • 2 individual tickets to Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter with a tour interactor

Your donation also earns you the chance to win a fantastic second prize (can you even call it a second prize if it’s this cool?). Here are the details:

1 lucky winner will win an original painting of Newt Scamander, the Magizoologist hero in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them by [m]outh [a]rtist Henry Fraser, signed by J.K. Rowling, Eddie Redmayne and cast members of the film.

Each entry into the fundraiser costs $12 – an amount that Sudol and Mulheir pointed out makes a big difference in the lives of the children Lumos helps – and the ultimate goal of the campaign is to raise $1 million.

In addition to the grand prize, there are also several special perks available in the campaign – like a copy of the Fantastic Beasts screenplay signed by J.K. Rowling – which you can purchase and receive extra entries for toward winning the grand prize. Other perks include an exclusive Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them print by MinaLima and a black version of the charity’s popular “Be the Light” T-shirt.

Enter now for your chance to win – and spread the word! Together we can help Lumos reach its goal and make a difference in the lives of millions of children.

I've been making magic at MuggleNet since 2012, when I first joined the staff as a News intern. I've never wavered from the declaration in my childhood journal, circa October 2000: "I LOVE Harry Potter! If I clean my room, my mom says she'll make me a dinner a wizard would love!" Proud Gryffindor; don't hate.
