Local firefighters were called when a fire broke out last night on the set of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Close to 100 crew members were on hand, and no injuries were reported when a "mock battle" scene got out of control. Watch commander Tony Smith said: "I think they are filming some stunts for the last scene. There is a big battle scene involving a lot of pyrotechnics and explosions. It's hard to say how much damage was caused, because some of it may have been planned as part of the filming. Perhaps they got much better footage than they expected." Thanks to Brandon for the tip!

Some of it may have been planned for filming? Doesnt this tie into the story a while ago that said a small portion of leavesden studios was going to be exploded for the Hogwarts fight?

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-20 10:53:23

Thank goodness there werent any injuries... And heck, maybe they did get better footage, probably looked more realistic...

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-20 11:05:40

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-20 11:17:41

Well i think it was a terrible accident and still if somehow that worked for shooting someaone could have been real injured! Its great that apparently everyones allright and hope that the set wasnt wrecked. But if it they got a better footage, then how lucky but its still no good news at all

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-20 11:32:23

HAHA, ROFL about them maybe having gotten better footage than they intended! A more realistic fire in the Great Hall? Cant wait!

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-20 11:44:56

Haha, I guess we can all laugh since nobody got hurt. Guessing that scene will be really realistic! :o

Wow! Lucky no one was hurt. Haha about the better footage than expected =)

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-20 12:28:40

as many have stated, its great no one was injured, or the set destroyed. But as that didnt happen, then i can say that its good news. Even a more realistic explosion lol. Just by an accident, a better footage. Cant wait.

Uh oh!! But lucky firefighters. lol

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-20 18:37:32

Wow! Im just glad no one got hurt! Hopefully this will delay filming, so it wont end until July.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-20 19:43:31

Oh wow! Thank goodness no one got hurt! But what Im thinking is that if that fire wasnt intended as it happened, do you think the crew stopped filming due to first reactions? What I mean to say is that, if a fire starts that isnt supposed to happen, everyones first reaction is "Oh my god, fire!" *stop what youre doing and try to put it out, call 911* They wouldnt just see that and shrug shoulders and keep on filming, right? Idk, I know I wouldnt. Too bad I wasnt one of those local firefighters! I would love to put out a fire there! haha, I siriusly would! I too, hope this will delay filming a little more too!! Do you think any of the actors were there on set when it happened? wow... :o

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-21 00:07:26

@RonLover19 I think the fire was intended but it just got out of control. And I dont think they call 911 over there.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-21 07:59:44

I wonder if Andrew was there when it happened, seeing that he was invited to the set.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-21 09:31:38

But wait, it says that they were filming the final battle. Wouldnt that be between Harry and Voldemort? And if it is.... why are they using over the top effects, like fire (or things that cause fires) to film it? The duel isnt even very exciting; its all dialouge and no action. I dunno about you guys, but Im a little concerned...

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-21 10:13:24

@Jessiiicax0x0 I think they mean the entire battle, not just the Harry and Voldy duel. I think they were filming the fiend fire scene in the Room of Requirement.

Posted by: - Posted on: 2010-03-21 11:32:31

This is scary, but since no one was injured, I feel free to laugh at the better footage line. lol. I really hope they use it in the film. And RonLover, I agree, I wish I was a firefighter that would have to put out that fire, too. Thatd be so awesome. lol.

Y would U want 2 delay the film it would take onger 4 the film 2 come out so its stupid 2 want it delayed unless U hate Harry Potter and dont want it 2 come out but that is impossible cauze everyone who goes on this site loves Harry Potter!so Y would U want it delayed???

As soon as I read this I thought of the enchanted fire in the Room of Requirement. When reading it in the books I wondered if they were going to really set it on fire or just use CGI which is what most flame is in movies these days...
