As it is now July 31st in the United Kingdom, we'd like to wish the happiest of birthdays to Harry Potter author JK Rowling and her lead character.
Jo is turning 45 today, while Harry is turning 30.
As EVERYONE can agree, JK Rowling and Harry Potter have made a huge impact on all of our lives. We are so grateful for the stories JK Rowling has given us. Thank you, Jo!

The world which you have created led me to see the magic in the world around me. I have grown up alongside the characters in your books. They were always there for me when others were cruel and mean. Because of your stories, I've always had something to latch me firmly to the state of my dreams... the world is mine to create, because we always have a choice. We're all gods, creating the world in which we live.
In my mind, your stories were always mine and mine alone. But I know that so many other people have been touched by them too. The Beatles were a huge part of the fall of the Soviet Union, because they affected the imagination of so many of the kids living behind the wall... and I know that you and Harry Potter will also have a HUGE impact on the world. You already have in so many ways.

Harry Potter is a classic that will be read for many years by generations of children. I believe that one day it will be known as the next Lord of the Rings or Chronicles of Narnia. I just hope that future children benefit from the words Jo has written as much as I and many of my peers have. I hope that they learn what Harry taught us about facing fears, doing what is right, not what is easy. I hope they learn about friendship, loyalty, and bravery. I started to re-read all of the Potter books 1 month ago, and with today marked the final page of the 7th book. I have read many books, especially adventure types since I was a child, but none of them could be compared with Harry Potter series in depth, emotion and values.
Thus, with all the miracle the books give me and other millions of readers all over the world, I wish both of you good health and peace of mind wherever you go.

somebody miscounted. because if you look in the epiloge it jumps 19 years in the future not 13. that means tha insead of Harry being 30 hes 38. becuse 17 + 19 = 38 so i eould go back and check your math.

@ scott dean: the epilogue is in our future too, as it takes place 19 years from 1997, when the story is happening. the epilogue takes place in 2016, and actually 17+19=36 so he is turning 30.
