J.K. Rowling lands on 2012 Top 100 Best-Selling Books list with 'The Casual Vacancy'

According to a recent article in the USA Today, the Harry Potter author, J.K. Rowling, was listed in the Top 100 Best Selling books for 2012 with her first adult novel, The Casual Vacancy.

The Casual Vacancy was received with mixed reviews from critics and fans alike but was in the No. 1 spot for the week of October 4th, 2012. However, the popular author was able to cast her spell and land on the 23rd spot of the Best-Selling book list of the year with the novel.

When Barry Fairbrother dies in his early forties, the town of Pagford is left in shock. Pagford is, seemingly, an English idyll, with a cobbled market square and an ancient abbey, but what lies behind the pretty facade is a town at war. Rich at war with poor, teenagers at war with their parents, wives at war with their husbands, teachers at war with their pupils…Pagford is not what it first seems. And the empty seat left by Barry on the parish council soon becomes the catalyst for the biggest war the town has yet seen.
