This morning the Oscar nominations for 2014 were announced by Chris Hemsworth and Cheryl Boone Isaacs in a live event. Of course, many Potter alumni are featured in the nominations.
Most notably, Gravity features heavily on the nominations list. Gravity, directed by Alfonso Cuaron and produced by David Heyman, both Potter alumni, leads the way with ten nominations. The movie has been nominated for several awards, including Best Cinematography, Best Actress in a Leading Role, Best Film Editing, and Best Picture, among many more!
Alfonso is also nominated for Best Director for his directing work on Gravity.
Rosie Goodwin, who worked on the Potter sets, is also nominated for Best Production Design for her set decoration on Gravity.
Away from Gravity, John Williams is nominated for Best Original Score, with his music for The Book Thief.
Michael O'Connor was nominated for Costume Design (The Invisible Woman). Michael was associate costume designer on Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
Saving Mr Banks, which stars Emma Thompson as P.L. Travers, the author of Mary Poppins, was also nominated for Best Original Score (Thomas Newman).
The Oscars will be held on March 2, 2014, at 7 PM EST.
Congratulations to all who were nominated! Good luck!
