Hey all you Potter fans out there! My name is Gemma, I’m an Aussie and an absolutely crazy Harry Potter fan! Ask any of my friends; I’m obsessed to the core! I love everything about Harry Potter: The characters (except for Voldemort, Malfoy, Snape, Wormtail and the rest of the Slytherins), the plots, the adventure, the books, the movies, the actors who play them (how I would love to meet Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson!) and the absolute genius who wrote all these books, J.K. Rowling! I would just like to say thanks, J.K., for all your hard work and keeping me entertained for hours on end! Without you, none of this would have happened! Anyway I have posters all over my room of the Harry Potter movies, and have watched both of them heaps of times! I can’t wait for PoA to come out at the movies! All the books rule, and I can’t wait for Order of the Phoenix to come out (not long now)! And I don’t care what anyone says: Harry Potter ROCKS!!!

How and when did you get into Harry Potter?

I first got into Harry Potter when I saw the first movie. I hadn’t read any of the books or anything before I went and saw it! A lot of my friends were reading the books and told me how good they were, so I decided to go see Philosopher’s Stone at the movies. I absolutely LOVED it!!! I’d never seen a better movie in my life! When it was about to end, I didn’t realise because I was so caught up in what had happened in the scenes before. When I noticed, I was like “NOOOO!!! It can’t end!!! It’s the best movie in the world!!!”. Funnily enough, all of those friends who told me to see HP 1 are now obsessed with Lord of the Rings and think HP is crap! (What absolute nutcases with no taste in good movies!) A week after I saw Philosopher’s Stone, I went and got books 2 – 4, and have now read those three books 13 times each! I got the first book last Christmas, but I had read it before then. I think all the books are great; I can’t wait until Order of the Phoenix comes out!!!

Which Harry Potter book is your favorite?

I would have to say Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. I love the storyline and the plot, and how every little detail fits into the story, and you don’t realise that until the end. All the way through, it keeps you on the edge of your seat. It’s the longest Potter book in the series at the moment (until Order of the Phoenix comes out!), and so it’s more Harry to enjoy! I also like the Prisoner of Azkaban, it’s a great book too!

What character can you relate to most?

I think probably Hermione because — not being snobby or anything — I am kinda smart and get teased for it sometimes (not as often as I used to though). I also tend to get bossy if I’m trying to do my work in class and my friends are mucking around. I’m part of a group of me and 2 other friends (Kellie E. and Ashleigh M.), and I’m probably the brainiest one of the group (But Ash comes close lol). I also have brown hair, but it’s not bushy like Hermione’s is.

What do you think of the inevitable boy/girl stuff coming in book 5?

I hope it’s not going to be too mushy. I mean, I know something’s going to happen and all, but I don’t want it to overtake the action and adventure we have all come to know and love about the other Harry Potter books. I hope something does happen, especially between Ron and Hermione!

Who do you think Harry will “hook up” within book 5? What about Ron?

I don’t think Harry and Cho will go out in the 5th book. Cho’s boyfriend’s just died for goodness sake, and I don’t think she would get over it that quickly. Also, I don’t think that she suspects that Harry likes her, she maybe got a hint of it when he asked her to the Yule Ball in 4th year. And I don’t think Harry will have the courage to ask her out. Some people also think that Harry and Ginny will hook up, but I don’t think so. It’s obvious that she likes him, but he’s never shown that he likes her any more than a friend and sees her as just “his best friend’s little sister.” I don’t know who Harry will “hook up” with in book 5, I honestly don’t know.

I think that Ron and Hermione will hook up! It’s so obvious that Ron likes Hermione, and has done since probably 2nd year. I mean, his favourite Quidditch player was Viktor Krum, and he started disliking him when he found out that he had asked Hermione to the Ball. Also when Hermione tells Harry and Ron about Krum asking her to stay with him over the summer, Ron kept asking what she said (most likely hoping that she said ‘no’). I wonder if Hermione does visit Viktor in the summer. I also think Hermione likes Ron, because when Ron says in book 4 that he would take the most pretty-looking girl to the Ball if he had the chance, she got angry with him and went up to bed. I think she was annoyed because she’s not exactly pretty, and thought that Ron wouldn’t ask her to the Ball, and she wanted him to. It’s just a theory, but I still think that Ron and Hermione will hook up in book 5!

What character do you think will die in book 5?

Ugh, it’s so sad to think that someone that we all know — and probably love — from the Harry Potter series is going to die. I think it will probably be Hagrid, he might die while on his mission with Madame Maxime (the one that Dumbledore sends them on over the summer after 4th year). Ahhh! Hagrid is cool! You can’t kill Hagrid! I don’t want anyone from the books to die (except for Voldemort, Snape, Malfoy and his gang of course)! I was also thinking that Sirius might be the one who J.K cuts (I know! It’s horrible! I don’t want him to die either, it’s just a thought!). The Dementors might find him and use the final Kiss on him (Ahhh!). Well, they’re just thoughts, but we’ll have to wait until the 21st of June to see who really does die.

Which school house would you want to be in? Do you think the Sorting Hat would place you in that house?

I would absolutely LOVE to be in Gryffindor! GRYFFINDOR ROCKS!!! It’s where all the “cool” people go!!! I think that the Sorting Hat would probably put me in either Gryffindor or Ravenclaw, because I’m sorta brave and daring, and also kinda smart. But then again, Hermione’s smart and she got into Gryffindor. I’m not patient enough to be in Hufflepuff and not evil enough to be in Slytherin (I wouldn’t want to be in Slytherin anyway!). I would definitely love to be in Gryffindor!

Do you have any interesting HP stories to share?

I have some stories but they’re not really interesting. Oh well, I’ll tell you anyway.

We were at school one day and we had to go to the oval to do a Science experiment. When we got to the oval, I looked around and said “This would be a perfect Quidditch pitch if it were a bit bigger and had hoops!” My friend Ashleigh looked at me, rolled her eyes and told me to shut-up about Harry Potter. “Well, it would be!” was my reply.

Also, me and one of my best friends Jena H. were playing table tennis at her house one day, and while we were hitting the ball at each other, we were casually talking about Harry Potter 5, and discussing who would die in the book. We both agreed it would probably be Hagrid. We were still talking when the ball bounced off the table, but we just continued talking about it.

Also, I went and saw the Chamber of Secrets the day after it came out with my dad, my sister and my friend Tenille V. When it got to the Spider’s Hollow part, she was holding my hand hard going “I’m scared!” (Sorry if I’m embarrassing you Tenille!) But when it got to the part where it showed the Basilisk with its eyes gorged out after Harry had killed it, I was curled up in my chair holding my legs. It scared the lights out of me! When we got out of the movies, my sister Kate, Tenille and I were discussing how cute Draco Malfoy had gotten and the Ron/Hermione hug thing. We all loved that, and I think it’s one of my favourite parts of the movie.

Sorry if I’m boring you all, I’ll shut-up now (lol).
