Long Live the Eagles!

by Amber

Katrina is a 5th year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. You may wonder, “Why speak of this girl we don’t know? We want to hear about Harry!” Or Draco, the professors, or whatever your preference may be. Well, the most interesting fact about the aforementioned student is this: she is in Ravenclaw.

“Great,” I hear you some of you say, “Now we’re *never* going to get to hear about Harry!” This, dear readers, is exactly my point. Merlin knows, we have enough information about Gryffindor. We know just as much about Slytherin, and Hufflepuff was focused upon in the second and fourth books, but…

What about Ravenclaw? What do we know about it? Cho Chang, Harry’s ex-girlfriend…Penelope Clearwater, Percy’s girlfriend…Padma Patil, Parvati’s twin sister (and coincidentally Ron’s date to the Yule Ball)…Luna Lovegood (Merlin’s beard, that girl is insane)… All of these girls (save Luna) are romantic interests of boys from Gryffindor. Does that bother anyone else but me? Am I all by my lonesome?!? Is Ravenclaw simply a house of pretty girls that have a soft spot for the boys “where dwell the brave at heart”?

Ravenclaw is known for its wit and learning. Hermione would have done splendidly in this house, in my opinion, but then she’d be another Ravenclaw swooning over the Gryffindors. We are intelligent, we are funny, and, above all, we are known for it. Stand with me, Ravenclaws, as we recite our mantra:

Ravenclaw, Ravenclaw,We pledge our minds to you.

May our knowledge guide and keep us

Down the good path that is true.

Our constant trials and triumphs

Against other congregations

Provide the strength to fight

Against apathy and procrastination.

Knowledge! Power! Both the same

We learn all lessons through.

Hufflepuff, Gryffindor, Slytherin,

WE GET BETTER GRADES THAN YOU!

Back to Katrina. Well, nevermind. I think I got my point across.

LONG LIVE THE EAGLES!
